Corazón y Carácter is a group of women providing training and instruction in public health sectors to individuals and families in low income communities. We empower people and build their self-esteem by developing, educating, and raising awareness in areas such as:
- Sex education
- Gay and lesbian mindfulness
- Youth advocacy
- Alcohol and drug prevention
- Depression
- Domestic violence
- Child abuse
- Nutrition
- Obesity
- Mental health
- Sexually transmitted diseases (STD’s)/Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)
- HIV
- Sexual assault
Our organization was founded in 1998 when a group of trustworthy women utilized their knowledge and skills to develop instructional presentations and began offering their services to schools, churches, community centers, and at conferences. Members felt that in order to develop meaningful relationships and build stronger communities they had to start by educating individuals, families and supporting our communities. They prepared information, instructed people, raised awareness, but most importantly they restored self-esteem by empowering themselves and individuals.
